What is the Fairfield County Land Reutilization Corporation?

The Fairfield County Land Reutilization Corporation (“Land Bank”) is a nonprofit corporation whose mission is to strategically acquire properties and return them to productive use.  As part of its mission the Land Bank seeks to reduce blight, increase property values, support community goals, promote economic development and improve the quality of life for County residents.

What is the Land Bank currently doing?

In December 2021 the Fairfield County Land Bank registered as the Lead Entity and is eligible for the $500,000 set aside per county as provided by state funds through the Ohio Department of Development for the Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program.  Of the $150 million allocated to this program in the state budget, Lead Entities may receive funds above the initial $500,000 so long as they can match 25% of the costs.  The Land Bank has reached out to the cities, townships and villages in the county to help identify blighted and unsafe structures that may qualify for this program. Applications are due February 28, 2022. Funds must be obligated by June 30, 2022 and all work must be completed by May 1, 2023.

The Board meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 2pm in the Commissioners’ Hearing Room.
